In Aion Classic, players will once again get to earn their wings as they explore Atreia, re-experiencing all the original zones and content. Aion Classic will also launch with a significant change: the time it takes to level to 50 has been reduced. Whether this will attract or retain players remains to be seen, but it is an interesting decision, and a stark departure from the WoW Classic model.
The official site is up now with founder packs, and players will notice right away that this is going to have a free-to-play and a sub-based payment option along with a battle pass; you’ll be able to buy Siel’s Aura with cash and pick up passes in 3-, 30-, 90-, and 365-day increments, while the freebie option is basically signing up for a much slower experience grind.
Unfortunately this announcement only concerns North America. The game will be offered in free-to-play with an optional subscription. As of June 16, it is also possible to log in to create your character in advance, reserve your name and thus receive an exclusive mascot upon release.
Aion Classic will be hosted on a separate server from the current Live server, and will begin with the content of Aion 1.0.
